Coast House

A great place to stay

About Us:

As one of the original six block titles released in the area known then as Snag Island and the first house built on the blocks the family have been part of this area from the early 1960’s. They enjoyed the relaxed, simple beach house lifestyle without the benefit of power, scheme water or road access.

Times have changed. The town was gazetted in the 1970’s and called Leeman (in honour of Abraham Leeman van Santwitz an amazing Dutch seaman of the 1600s who was marooned and navigated his way to Java on not one but two occasions) Power and water services were connected when mining operations at Eneabba housed part of their work force here and, of course roads, rather than evolving tracks, were built. A school was established and the enterprising community fundraised prior to it’s establishment by growing a wheat crop on the site.

The family developed the original house themselves. Careful wherever possible to use design features and materials to reduce the energy requirements and be sustainable both in the build and use while maintaining the original beach house views and feel. They are now able to offer visitors a feel of this simple lifestyle with large character ensuite rooms and verandahs for all seasons.

Today Leeman, or Snag, offers a  place for a relaxed holiday or stopover. Explore the beautiful and largely pristine coastline. Kayak, snorkel or windsurf in the ocean. Bushwalk, observe nature with wildflowers, birdlife or fauna at the nearby salt lakes, Lake Indoon, Mt Leseur and Stockyard Gully National Parks or just take some time out to relax and unwind as our family has done for decades.

We’ll give you a warm welcome.

This Oceanfront, elevated and environmentally conscious building in Leeman has developed from the original family holiday home circa 1960's. The character decor has a restrained, retro feel.
